Duties & Responsibilities

The Covert Township Department of Public Works (DPW) handles a wide range of services to maintain and improve the township’s infrastructure and public services.

1. Road Maintenance: Working with the County Road Commission, MDOT and other agencies in repairing and maintaining township roads, including boom mowing, snow plowing, and ditching.
2. Water and Sewer Services: Working with contractors and authorities to maintain township’s water supply and wastewater systems, including maintenance of water lines, sewer lines, and treatment facilities.
3. Parks and Recreation: Maintaining public parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities, ensuring they are safe and clean for public use.
4. Public Buildings Maintenance: Upkeeping and repairing township-owned buildings and facilities.
5. Solid Waste Management: Overseeing the transfer station and recycling programs, ensuring proper disposal of waste.
6. Stormwater Management: Managing drainage systems to prevent flooding and erosion, including maintenance of storm drains and retention basins.
7. Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: Repairing and maintaining township-owned vehicles and equipment to ensure they are operational and safe.
8. Community Services: Providing support for township events, streetlight maintenance, and other community-oriented services.
